OUR CHURCH History
The Love Fellowship Church of God in Christ started its journey in January 1991, after Elder Samuel Butler accepted his call to pastor. Love Fellowship’s former location, “1409 Seminary in Oakland, California was remodeled and prepared for opening with the help of Superintendent John A. Jennings and the members of McGlothen Temple Church of God in Christ. On March 10, 1991, Love Fellowship’s doors were opened and the church was dedicated. Many souls were saved and blessed by the church being in that location. We blessed the area with street services, clothing and food giveaway programs.
In 1995 after much prayer and fasting Pastor Butler moved the church to “851 Santa Clara Avenue, Alameda, California”. Sister Yheng Carlisle saw this location and made that information available to Pastor Butler immediately. The building was in need of much work and God sent the help we needed through Pastor Darnell Thomas of Showers of Blessing Church of God in Christ of Sacramento, California, his father, Pastor Thomas of Oroville, California and Brother Dennis Huddart of Berkeley, California. After making this building ready for the work of the Lord the doors of the church opened on March 9, 1995.
In Love Fellowship’s preparation to move to the Base Chapel we are currently sharing church facilities with Calvary Christian Center at 1516 Grand Street, Alameda, California. While at this location with more space we were able to feed the community on Thanksgiving 2011.
Many people have been blessed as a result of our being in Alameda, California. Love Fellowship has endeavored to be a help in this community and to the members of our church. We have been assisted by various organizations in continuing our food and clothing giveaways. Our mission department has been very active in visiting convalescent homes weekly, helping the homeless, giving food and clothing to assist with immediate needs, and providing temporary shelter. Our goal is to help everyone. We were able to provide Spanish classes through our tutoring program. The Lord has blessed us with a 15 passenger church van for which we are grateful. Sister Jane Kohner, our web-master, has recently archived every message that has been recorded here at Love Fellowship; the archived messages are available on our website (www.lovefellowshipalameda.com). We have certainly come this far by faith and the Lord has never failed us. Keep us in your prayers, as we continue to do God’s work and teach out to a dying world to win souls for Christ.

On April 24, 2006 this web site was launched. We thank Dreamhost.com, for their assistance in hosting this site. Our thanks also to all those who aided in the design and running of our home on the Internet.
This site is another way for us to be a source of education and encouragement in a busy world. We provide class and sermon notes, as well as referenced quotations from The King James Bible.
We play as hard as we learn. In the “Extras” section featur3 online and printable coloring pages and games.

On April 28, 2007, we added audio sermons to the site. Now you have notes and the audio sermon together on one page.
In February 2008 we provided a link to christiananswers.net for additional activities for children and adults. This material is routinely updated and we thank this fine website for being available for use on our site.
On March 3, 2008, we added email to our website. We now also offer all sermons from 2007 forward on the Sermons Index page.
On December 20, 2011, We had to re-do our entire website due to circumstances beyond our control. This process will take several months, but as new links are added, you will discover all the features you know and enjoy from the first version of our website.
